Prospect Hill believes in the importance of giving back to the Sunapee community and beyond. Here are some of the organizations and events we support.
Janie's Fund
Janie’s Fund is a philanthropic initiative created by Steven Tyler in partnership with Youth Villages to bring hope and healing to girls who have suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect. Steven first gave voice to this cause with his hit “Janie’s Got a Gun,” and his establishment of the fund ensures that these vulnerable girls will have an enduring voice for years to come. Janie’s Fund has two important goals: to bring much-needed awareness to the issue of abuse and neglect of children and to generate financial support to ensure that girls receive the most effective services available to help them overcome the trauma and pain of abuse. Contributions to Janie’s Fund support proven programs at Youth Villages that have demonstrated effectiveness in addressing the trauma of sexual abuse in children and expansion of these services to help even more girls.
Mary's Food For Thought
Mary’s Food for Thought was formed out of the desire to continue finding meaningful ways to serve the Sunapee community in honor of the memory of our dear Mary Moynihan. With the receipt of a generous donation in association with Mary’s role with the Sunapee Farmers Market, an idea was formed.
Among many things that Mary loved, Sunapee schools and its students were near and dear to her. True to her caring nature, Mary often expressed a deep concern for children who faced food challenges, particularly during the summer months when support from the school breakfast & lunch programs are not available.
In keeping with Mary’s caring spirit, and with the support of the Sunapee Farmers Market, the mission of Mary’s Food for Thought is to help ease the burden of food insecurity during summer months when children are most vulnerable.
Event: Poker Run 5k
Join us for a fun and unique twist on a traditional race — it's a Poker Run 5K! Not only will you get to enjoy a scenic run through Sunapee Harbor, but you’ll also have the chance to win prizes for the best hand!
Here’s what you can expect:
5K race along beautiful Sunapee Harbor
Poker Run (modified) – collect a card in your swag bag, at the finish line, and at Hoptimystic Brewing to compete for the best hand
Entry Includes: A custom event t-shirt (for the first 200 people who register) and your choice of a beer or mocktail at Hoptimystic Brewing (Sunapee Location) immediately after the race
